Tanque Verde Falls is a series of waterfalls in Tanque Verde canyon near Tucson, Arizona. Starting at the parking area, hike south (accross the road) and down the switchback trail. Along the way you will pass signs warning hikers of the dangerous trail ahead. After an easy half-mile hike, you will reach the bottom of the canyon. At this point there is no longer a defined trail. Head upstream for approximately 3/4 mile from the trailhead. The canyon trail grows a bit more dangerous, and climbing over boulders is required. You will reach the mouth of a narrow canyon. There is a thunderous 30-foot waterfall falling down steep canyon walls. This is not the actual Lower Tanque Verde Falls. Climb up the rock wall to the right of the 30-foot waterfall, which is not easy. There you will find a 75-foot waterfall, Lower Tanque Verde Falls. Return the way you came in. The Tanque Verde Falls trail is maintained by the Southern Arizona Hiking Club.
